	Rhine Discovery Tour 5 Days / 3 Nights DAY 1 Depart school early evening for the UK port. Continue to Freiburg overnight. Day 2 Arrive in the morning, time to settle in and explore local area. Day 3 What better way to start your tour than an exciting boat trip along the Rhine? The first part of the cruise leads along the river to beautiful Bacharach, passing many magnificent castles on route. You’ll also see the legendary Loreley Gorge and its famous rock! On arrival at Bacharach the group will have time to explore the historic centre and have lunch before re-boarding the boat for the second part of the journey to the charming wine town of Rudesheim. In Rudesheim you can take a cable car to the Niederwald Monument to see breathtaking views of the region and visit the Mechanical Museum before heading back to Boppard by coach to arrive back for dinner. *Day 4 After breakfast the coach will take you on a tour of the Rhineland. First stop St Goar to see the ruined Rheinfels Castle dating back to 1245. You’ll then cross the river to St Goarshausen to get a closer look at the Burg Katz und Maus (Cat and Mouse castles) and continue to the Loreley Rock where legend has it that a mermaid’s mystical songs lured sailors to their deaths. Here you’ll get the chance to visit the excellent Loreley visitor centre. You can then either return to Boppard by coach or by boat. Day 5 The coach will depart back to the UK after breakfast. *You can swap Day 4 for a visit to the historic city of Cologne and neighbouring Bonn, the capital of the former West Germany and the birthplace of Beethoven. In Cologne the Chocolate Factory is well worth a visit as is the exciting theme park Phantasialand with its thrilling Space Ride and IMAX cinema.
