Berlin & Krakow Modern History Tour

DAY 1
(arrival day in Berlin) Arrive in Berlin around Midday. After checking in at the accommodation youll have time to settle in and explore the local area before dinner. |

Day 2
After breakfast the group will depart for a Historical Walking Tour of Berlin, which takes in some of the citys key sites, including Potsdamer Platz, the Brandenburg Gate and Unter den Linden. After lunch (not provided), you visit the Reichstag the impressive German Parliament building identified by its immense glass dome before rounding off the day by visiting the Stasi Museum, which holds a truly memorable collection of cold war era spy devices. The coach then returns you to your hotel for dinner. |

Day 3
After breakfast the group will depart for the Checkpoint Charlie Museum, which illustrates the many, often failed, escape attempts over this famous border crossing. Next up after lunch (not provided), is the Story of Berlin Museum, which details the rich, often traumatic, but always fascinating history of the city from its beginnings through to the present day. After dinner the coach will depart for an overnight journey to Krakow. |

Day 4
Arrive in Krakow during the morning. Check-in at the hotel and freshen up before taking a fully guided tour of the Kazimierz quarter, the historical centre of Krakows Jewish religious and social life before World War II; the tour takes in the areas most important monuments, including the sites which featured in Stephen Spielbergs Oscar winning film Schindlers List. |

Day 5
After breakfast, the coach will take the group to Auschwitz, the death camps made notorious during World War II by the Nazis. The trip actually entails a visit to both the Auschwitz and Birkenau camps, where students can see the gas chambers and the furnaces, as well as the cells which held the detained. As part of the exhibition, visitors get to see samples of the items taken from the prisoners, including hair, shoes, glasses and other possessions. After the visit, the coach will return the group to the hotel for dinner. |

Day 6
Depart for the UK, arriving the following day.
