Depart from your school in the early morning, travel to Dover to pick up the P&O ferry crossing to Calais. On arrival to Calais the group will make their way to Ypres & the surrounding area.
The day will be spent in Ypres & the surrounding area covering the main WWI sights these will include a visit to the In Flanders Fields Museum. The museum offers an excellent introduction to the events that took place between 1914 and 1918. Your pupils will experience life during the Great War through the eyes of local people at the time. After lunch (not included) youll embark on a guided tour of the famous cemeteries and battlefield sites including Hill 60, Essex Farm Cemetery and Sanctuary Wood. Youll continue the tour with a visit to Belgiums largest British cemetery at Tyne Cot and then onto the Langemark cemetery, dedicated to the German soldiers who also perished. The tour ends at the Menin Gate where youll hear the moving Last Post.
The group will depart late afternoon / early evening (subject to drivers hours) to arrive back to school late evening.
