Time to settle in and explore the local area before dinner Day 2 After breakfast you’ll have a guided visit of SEAT’s state of the art Car Plant. Opened in 1993, the plant is one of the most efficient in Europe. During the tour the students can develop their understanding of product design and gain an insight into the complexities of mass production. After lunch the group will visit theCarrocerías Ayats coach builders which will give a different perspective on manufacturing because Carrocerias Ayats are specialists in custom coach design. Students might like to explore further concepts and issues behind designing for clients. Evening meal at the hotel. Day 3 After breakfast the group will depart for a guided tour of San Miguel Glassworks. San Miguel is a recognised international brand name and is sold in 35 countries. The guided tour of the San Miguel Glassworks will enable students to visit each stage of the design and production process. Production employs a combination of traditional glass blowing techniques and automated processes. After lunch the group will depart for a visit to Font Vella bottling plant. Font Vella mineral water comes in a range of bottle sizes and shapes—’for anytime and any place’. A visit to the bottling plant at Sant Hilari could provide you and your students with a context for exploring the properties of resistant materials when designing. Day 4 Breakfast at the hotel before departing for a day in Barcelona. The day will start off with a visit to the The Port of Barcelona. The port covers an area of 527 hectares and has 20 kilometres of wharfes and moorings. A guided tour will give students some insight into the factors influencing the location industry and, in turn, the influence that industry has on the environment. After lunch, you’ll visit the The Circuit de Catalunya, one of the world’s most modern motor racing circuits. It hosts numerous motor races including the Spanish F1 Grand Prix. Evening meal at the hotel.
