ISIS Teacher Knowledge Test Preparation Course
The TKT preparation course is a one-week intensive course (20 contact hours) that prepares participants for the Cambridge ESOL teaching Knowledge Test. The test examines candidates' knowledge on teaching English to speakers of other languages; concepts related to language, language use and the background and practice of language teaching and learning. It acts as a comprehensive introduction to the concepts and terminology of ESOL and provides a sound foundation before participants might want to progress onto higher level qualifications such as the CELTA / Trinity TESOL certificate.
Who is it for?
The Test is designed to participants from a wide variety of backgrounds.These might include practicing teachers within both ESOL and other language learning sectors and pre-service teachers or those anxious to move into this fast growing area.
Candidates from the TKT come from both L1 and L2 backgrounds. Upon application, course tutors will advise candidates as to how they might best prepare for the course.

To enroll on the course you will need to have a minimum level of both spoken and written English in line with the Cambridge Preliminary English test or Level B1 in the European Language framework. ISIS Greenwich asks candidates to complete a short test to establish their capability to meet the requirements of the course.What does the course include?
The course fully prepares participants for the 3 modules of the TKT and contains input sessions on the following areasModule1 :
a) Terminology and concepts to describe language
b) Factors relevant to language learners.
c) Background and methodologies of language learning.Module 2 :
a) Planning lessons through identifying aims, stages, components and assessment strategies.
b) The use of resources for language teaching, course books and supplementary activities.Module 3 ;
a) Managing the classroom and teacher roles.
b) Teacher's language in the classroom.How is the course assessed?
Participants will complete a series of short written tests over the course to confirm grasp of terminology and concepts and will each have an individual tutorial at the end of the course.
